Everything, except the sushi, was outstanding. The sushi was average. The cocktails and desserts were also very good. The Pollo en Miso was amazing; I highly recommend it!
I celebrated a birthday here with a group, and it was an amazing experience! The food was exceptional! We ordered gyozas, yuka fries, cod, Brussels sprouts, steak, miso chicken, and more, along with the dessert platter. Our server was well-informed and personable, which made navigating the not-so-intuitive menu much easier. The ambiance was fantastic, with great music and a stylish setting. This place is definitely worth a visit!
We enjoyed: - Nikkei yellowtail sashimi - Spicy otoro - Branzino tempura - Lomo - Wagyu dumplings (with no sauce) - Wagyu steak - Churros with milk chocolate Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted fantastic. We definitely plan to return for more! Dietary restrictions: They were able to fully accommodate our need for halal dishes, ensuring no alcohol in sauces or cooking, as well as addressing a shrimp allergy.
We did the Chef's Experience and enjoyed each and every dish that came out. The vibe was very cool and relaxed, service was great and the food was outstanding.
I have been to Chotto Matte Toronto many times. The food and service was usually good. Unfortunately, the last time I went, it appears they changed how they cook (or don’t cook) their Pollo Den Miso (a grilled chicken dish). We have had this dish at least five times in the past. This time, it tasted a bit “squishy”, only to see that it was raw inside when we looked more closely. When we brought this to the server’s attention, she said she would take it off our bill because “we barely ate any of it”, but that “the chef said it wasn’t undercooked” – a ridiculous comment and completely unprofessional attitude. Perhaps it was just a coincidence that the two of us that ate the chicken were sick the next day, and the other two were completely fine. Purely coincidence I am sure. I will not be returning, not because they made a mistake (even though raw chicken should never be served), but because of how they handled the situation. If they think this chicken was properly cooked, I am worried this mistake will happen again.
