The shrimp flour roll had a high percentage of flour and very little shrimp inside, which was not what I was expecting. The beef and paprika in the black bean sauce ho-fun was overly salty and had too much MSG, with very little beef for the price. There are definitely better options for anyone looking to try dim sum for the first time or for those who are looking for good quality dim sum.
This was my second time at Dim Sum Queen and the quality of food and service has greatly decreased. When I arrived, the server asked if I wanted tea or water. I said water and she gave me a teapot with hot water. I was surprised, but thought it was usual. Later I saw a few groups of people coming and they asked for water, and received jars filled with jar filled with room temp water. I was confused about why I got a different treatment, but moved on. When our food arrived, my friend fell empty because of the slippery and bigger buttons. I asked if it was possible to get a single Shu Mai and the lady said no. I said it was good, and I would cut the last piece in half. The lady asked if I wanted her to pick up the emptying, wash her and bring her back to steam.... I think that's what A LOT says about the restaurant!! Absolutely disgusting! I thought later that this must be a common thing to do in the back!! Finally, the first time I went before COVID, so there were not so many Uber orders to visit, but yesterday the machine would not stop ringing and the server literally sprinted back and forth from the kitchen forward at least 4-5 times! I was shocked to see how she treated the packed food with so little care. Overall, the taste was lacking compared to other dimsum restaurants, but they tried to compensate with larger pieces. Nevertheless, the service that made me do not return to this restaurant.
Dim Sum Queen is a no-frills restaurant that serves Cantonese cuisine. We ordered the Beijing Duck with pancakes, as well as a variety of other dishes. The only complaint we had was that the pancakes were too soggy and stuck together. However, the other dishes were superb. I highly recommend this place for delicious and reasonably priced food in the area.
My girlfriend and I were very disappointed when we visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon and found it to be completely empty. The food was a letdown as well, with most dishes tasting bland or poorly prepared. The curry cuttlefish (listed as octopus on the menu) was overly sour and had a diluted curry flavor that reminded us of dish soap. The pork and chicken Sui Mai were also disappointing. The only dishes that were somewhat enjoyable were the pan-roasted shrimp with chives and the crab ball. The rice rolls were dry and undercooked, and we couldn't even finish our meal due to concerns about the food being old or improperly cooked. It was a waste of money, and we ended up going elsewhere for a proper meal, leaving most of our dishes untouched.
I?m a huge dim sum fan, and really miss being able to gather with friends at my favourite traditional rolling cart restaurants. Finding Dim Sum Queen on SkipTheDishes was such a great thing! The food is fresh, well portioned and needless to say, absolutely TO DIE FOR DELICIOUS! If you love dim sum, you must try Dim Sum Queen! Thank you to every one there for bringing back into my home what I love and miss the most of being to dine out!
