The music and the decor are sort of like Mexico. The service is friendly but somewhat confused and slow - just like Mexico. The rest rooms in the basement are grungy and smelly -- just like ... well ... you know. Recommended as long as you are not in a hurry and do not have to use the loo.
I seriously don't remember having been to a worse restaurant. Though the servers are all friendly and earnest they are very disorganized. Being Pride week the patio was full and we were asked to seat ourselves inside. It took forever to flag down someone to give us a menu and then another eternity to place an order. I asked which enchiladas were the best. Our server suggested"steak". The table was sticky and the complimentary tortilla chips were great as was the salsa. The service appeared very disorganized as servers were running in every direction and no one was getting served. We saw people waiting for food, bills, drinks. None of the tables were set which meant that every time someone was served they had to ask for utensils. After more than a half an hour with no food we finally flagged down a server, since ours had vanished, and asked if our food was coming. He went to check, returned, and asked what we ordered (we saw the same scene play out at a nearby table). 5 minutes later he came out with out orders. Our food was cold and in fact clammy, my side of guacamole missing, and no utensils. We flagged down yet another server to get forks and my missing side. The food, to be brief, was mediocre (and room temp) My quote-unquote steak was more like shredded dry roast beef. We ate about a third and asked for the bill, which did not come. Third request was the charm. At this point my partner, quite out of character, asked the server to return immediately with the debit machine, and asked if he was clear. We watched the server head back out to the patio, then back to the kitchen, at which point we put down all the cash we had, which was short $0.27, and left.Would not return even to use the bathrooms (which were rundown, dirty and one of the two stalls out of order).Guacamole and chips were good.
Have been going to this restaurant regularly since it first opened. The food is excellent at great value. The service is extremely friendly and accommodating. One time they sat myself and 12 friends at a table with 1 hour to close without a reservation on a Friday night. Because this is a smaller family owned joint, the service is a little slower, so don't go here if you're in a rush. Otherwise I can't recommend this place more.
Excellent food, very generous servings, is the best Mexican food that I ever had in Toronto, for sure I will go there again
Went to this restaurant with a friend and we had a chimichanga and an enchilada. The food was very good, with good prices. When we got there we were given homemade chips and 2 homemade sauces, very good salsa. We spoke to the owner, she is very friendly. They have a lot on their menu: pozole, quesadillas, flautas etc. We will be back as we have many friends who like good mexican food. They have a patio out front also. Looking forward to sitting on the patio drinking a cerveza and having good Mexican food.
