If I could survive on nothing else, I’d be fine with that.Their little artisanal cakes are so pretty; they’re as much fun to look at as eat.Look, just go and enjoy. This place is dope.
First, the coffee is really quite poor. The espresso comes out bitter and over-extracted. If you have to buy coffee here, opt for a milk-based drink to mask the burnt taste. Even better, just head across the street to Sticky for much better coffee. The second and more significant issue for me is the consistently unwelcoming attitude I encounter every time I visit. Today, while I was rummaging through my wallet to find my debit card—passing by several credit cards that see much more use—the snarky teenager behind the counter snapped at me, "WE ONLY TAKE CASH OR DEBIT!" Yes, ma’am, I'm aware of that. There are five signs indicating this, which is why I’m trying to locate my debit card. I have to really crave a croissant to deal with the unfriendly staff. No matter when I come here, they give off a vibe that my presence is a bother to them. I hope that some new businesses open up in the area and push Fleur du Jour to modernize and enhance their service. They have the food part down; now they just need to train their staff to treat customers with the same respect they would want for themselves.
I ordered a café Americano and an almond croissant, and the almond croissant was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. I highly recommend Fleur du Jour if you’re in the St. Clair West area and craving a delicious pastry.
I visit many cafes in the area, and this one is definitely the best. Their baked goods are fresh and of high quality, and the coffee is consistently delicious. The last time I enjoyed such a wonderful experience in a cafe was in France.
The croissant was outstanding—fresh and delicious. The coffee was good too. There's limited seating available inside. My only concern is the pricing of the coffee. It doesn't seem right that a cortado and a macchiato cost the same as a cappuccino. At $5, it feels overpriced for drinks that contain much less milk.
