The cocktails were delicious as well, once we finally received them after a bit of a delay. However, there seemed to be a staffing issue as there was only one server and the kitchen appeared to be understaffed as well. This may have been a one-time problem, but it did impact our experience as one of the cocktail ingredients was unavailable, causing a significant delay. Despite the server's best efforts to keep up with the high demand, dinner took much longer than expected. I am giving this a lower rating because I believe the service issue was not indicative of their usual standards.
When claiming to serve Taiwanese street food, I had high expectations. However, the food at this restaurant was disappointingly overpriced and lacked flavor. The fried chicken had no taste and the popcorn chicken seemed to be made from small, leftover scraps of chicken. The portions were small and lacked flavor. The pork belly rice dish was also lacking in taste. The only positive aspect of this experience was the decent service. I will not be returning and do not recommend this restaurant. It is a disappointing representation of Taiwanese cuisine.
I recently went to Kanpai Snack Bar for a group dinner with other Asian food enthusiasts. This restaurant specializes in Taiwanese Street Food, and I was very impressed with the food and the service. They offer great deals on Jameson shots, which seemed to be popular among the regular customers. The dishes I tried were all delicious, including wok-fired green beans, pork-filled wontons, Bao with slow-cooked pork, chili chicken, and a dessert of hong kong bubble waffle with ice cream. The atmosphere was cool, with an open kitchen and a mix of raised seating and wooden blocks for sitting. The décor was warm and inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back to Kanpai Snack Bar in the future.
I visited Kanpai with a group of students from my school and it was fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavour! An amazing atmosphere and we enjoyed trying Taiwanese street food. Thank you to Chef Trevor Lui and his staff for a...delicious food experience!
So good. Best fried chicken I have had. Spicy rice, excellent cocktails, cool atmosphere. The beer taps have various knives on them. Pork belly was melt in your mouth.
