Mr. Gushi - Toronto

This restaurant is located close to my home, and I can't get enough of it - the flavors are delicious. I always leave feeling satisfied and content. The Japanese street food here is top-notch! Don't miss out on trying the Japanese curry!

Gushi is located under a number of Container Box restaurants on the south side of Dundas Street just east of Bathurst. The standard boneless fried chicken box with rice costs $9 and tastes great. There are also some other options. Service is a little slow, but friendly. There are a few picnic tables available on a first coming basis. Gushi takes credit cards. Some other places in this small route not.

I was originally headed to catch my train at Union Station when I came across the Mr. Gushi stand. I ordered the Gushi Original with chicken, sesame vinaigrette, spicy mayo, and pickles on a bed of purple rice. The chicken was incredibly fresh and the combination of flavors was amazing. It was $11, but definitely worth it!

This was my first time with takoyaki, since I left Japan and it was like I remembered - the octopus was tender, the fried eggs were melted in the middle, accompanied by red ginger. I don't think they're using garlic aoili in Japan and I think it's missing from sea tang, but it wasn't that delicious. Can't wait to go back

After reading some reviews, we decided to visit this restaurant and try the food. However, we quickly learned that it is not a sit-down restaurant. Despite the chilly weather, we opted to eat in our car since the takeout packaging was convenient. The food stalls nearby made us consider returning during the summer. The food, including chicken, squid, and purple rice, was delicious. The ginger was a bit salty for my taste, as I prefer it sweeter. Overall, the dishes were fresh, hot, and needed to cool down before eating. This spot is a great choice if you're in the area, but I'm not sure if I would make a special trip there again. We overheard others mention picking up food for Uber, so it seems to be a good value for the quality.
