The Roy Public House - Toronto

Went here for dinner. Old man (presumably a manager by the way he acted but also possible he had a false sense of entitlement) was ridiculously rude. Made a snide comment about not tipping even though we had left $15 on the table for a $60 meal and the food was mediocre at best. Don't waste your time.

Been here twice now - classic pub atmosphere, nice and cozy, comfortable seating. The main bar is not that large. Friendly service and tasty food.

I can understand why the Roy has been voted Leslieville's best pub so many years in a row. It has to be the friendly service, excellent food and great selection of beers and whiskies on tap. We've been there many times and not once have we ever had a bad meal. The fish and chips and Sunday prime rib are definite favourites. It's also a great place for brunch or a late night drink. Do yourself a favour and go!!

Have been going to The Roy for years and realized I've never reviewed it for TripAdvisor. It has a mostly traditional English/Irish pub/restaurant menu, and the shepherd's pie and steak and mushroom pie are the best. Great on a cold night when the fire is going. As the website state, it's an 'adult space' and welcomes only 'attended, well-behaved children' - I love that part!

We have now been to The Roy 6-7 times. Each time we are warmly welcomed and receive prompt service. We were there again last night for a few "pints" on St Patrick's Day. The live trio complemented the already bubbly atmosphere. Servers ensured our table was always topped up with appies and beverages. Try the humus and pita, the Poutine and the calamari. Great shareable dishes.We also dove into several pounds of delectable wings, Caesar salads, some Irish stew and a Sheppards pie. All were delicious.My only caution...the nachos are served with crispy flour tortillas, not crunchy corn ones. Result is a heavy floury dish. Maybe something the Roy could easily change.Thanks to The Roy for a great evening.
