Contribuisci feedbackMy husband and I found ourselves at Woodlot after leaving a restaurant where we had a reservation because it smelt like a dirty bar rag. We had no reservation but managed to get right in. The food was excellent, so was the wine. Pickerel with green pea sauce and pickled radishes... wow. Also had a delicious simple pasta. Terrific upscale restaurant in the changing Little Italy area. Cool low key vibe with clean bathrooms and friendly service. Really can't wait to go back.
I chose Woodlot because it has a nice patio that moves from sun to shade in the early evening hours during patio season.I really enjoyed it. Here is what I found...1. Separate, yet comparable menus that are vegetarian and non- vegetarian options.2. While I am not vegetarian, I had a mushroom appetizer and a vegetarian pasta dish with peas, mushrooms, etc that were both supremely delicious.3. A thoughtfully curated beer and wine list.4. A casual vibe. The place is classy, yet you will be fine in smart casual or more casual attire. On a hot day on the patio, nicer shorts and a polo will be more the rule than exception.5. The staff are attentive. I felt rushed slightly at first, yet once I settled in, everything went brilliantly.6. Woodlot is in a great location/starting point to get a feel for Little Italy, as well as Toronto's neighbourhood scene.
Our large group really enjoyed the experience of dining at the Woodlot. We had a particularly attentive waiter who accommodated our special needs without missing a beat. Food is freshly prepared, so no fast food service here. There is a separate vegetarian menu with as many choices as the main menu. There is a nice selection of beers and wines.
Simple delicious home made food in a quirky environment. Homestyle food, but interesting twists on ingredients and taste. Lovely. Has both vegetarian and meat lovers options. It looks like a shed from the outside but once inside it's all tasty goodness. Check out their website for menu details.
We visited woodlot for the first time for my partners birthday, which is always a risk. I'm so glad we took the leap of faith as they provided an experience that was unforgettable. Everyone loved their meal, our server was incredibly accommodating (we can be a bit difficult) and the selection of biodynamic wines and ciders was an excellent surprise. My partner is an organic, biodynamic farmer and we are so happy to have found a "farm to table" restaurant in the city that is the real deal. Thanks for a wonderful evening Woodlot, we'll be back.
