The toro ? doesn't taste as premium as I would like, but it's good enough. What was troubling about the service was that the servers couldn't tell toro sushi from their beef sushi. They gave us the beef sushi first, and we promptly told them the order was for toro and not beef. 2 servers have to come by to look real close before they realized that the ? was indeed beef. The omurice was decent, but we would have like the egg to be a lot more runny.
Food is great for the price. I’m really happy with the service.Food: 4/5
Best udon carbonara I've had! Detailed breakdown below: Service, 4/5 Friendly service! Take out was missing utensils and napkins though. Price portion, 4.5/5 Udon carbonara ended up being about $17 not bad, but portion didn't fill me up. Taste of the food, 5/5 I haven't had an udon carbonara better than Ojiya. The sauce is savory without being too heavy, the udon noodles are always cooked perfectly, the mushroom adds an interesting layer of texture, and the pork belly is jam packed full of delicious fatty flavor. All together, a perfect bowl of noodles that beats out almost all other traditional pasta dishes I've had.
Wish Yelps would let me rate 4.5, that would be dead on balls accurate. Can't drop a full 5 here, but this place is quite good.Clearest signal: most everyone dining in there was speaking Japanese and getting hammered and having an awesome time. Udon Carbonara was the real deal, and the Tonkotsu Ramen was quite good as well. A broth, A pork, B noodles (which was weird). Had a few nigiri that were excellent as well, but I'd say most of the diners weren't eating sushi so my take was this is more Izakaya style. You won't regret this one highly encourage!
If you're looking for an authentic Japanese place. Come to Ojiya! It's your typical hole in the wall , small, Japanese restaurant but everyone here is so nice and prepare the food well. When you come it's like you're in Japan. This is time to practice your Japanese with the waitresses like I did! I love sushi and Japanese food. I usually get Omrice (if they have it) and a sushi roll when I check out any Japanese restaurants. Ojiya stuck out to me. The spicy salmon roll was good and filling! There's no stinginess with the salmon. The sushi was built perfectly and didn't fall apart. Its better compared to other Sushi restaurants I've been too. The omrice portions were huge and delicious! I couldn't finish mine and took it to go. It's a bit pricey but I think it's so worth it. I recommend this place out if you like Japanese food. We came in the evening and it wasn't too packed and we didn't have to wait that long for our food. I know during lunch hours it's busy. This is a good place for dinner. Check it out!
