Don Julio - Torrent

After the Holiday Inn experience,I dumped the bags to meet my former colleague for dinner. This is his home town and Casa Lluiset was not what I expected. When he was living in England and left to his own devices, food usually came from the takeaway. This was just the opposite, homely, rammed with locals and serving excellent food. He said to me over dinner,he knew how fussy I was, I was hurt. As we have known each other for long enough I forgave him. We opted for the set menu, which came with a very nice red bottle of red included in the price. After a selection of starter plates when opted for one meat and one fish dish, the fish was Cod and the meat was Beef cheeks. Rather than take one each, we placed them in the centre and helped ourselves, both were comforting on a chilly January night. Dessert was sharing plate, the highlight of which was a slice of pumpkin pie. Very good food and service at very reasonable price.

Impressive place. I have been trying tons of rest in Spain but honestly speaking it's difficult to find one who can compete with Luïset! Service is just excellent, food is fresh, both meat and fish, the taste of all the dishes I tried was just unique, the dessert a sweet surprise, and the wine list is just equal to the menu. High class restaurant, affordable prices. Don't lose it!
