The restaurant is nicely decorated and welcoming, and the bento box we ordered is prepared with great care to detail. Even though it took almost 1.5 hours for us to get our food (we were informed there was only one cook that night), the wait was worth it. In contrary to most reviews here I find nothing to complain about the level and quality of service. We were attended to by the chef's son, and even if I didn't speak French he tried his very best to explain the menu in English—and the menu has English description too, which is a definite plus. It took awhile for him to take our order, mostly because the kitchen is short on manpower that night. When the bento box arrived we are surprised by the quality. It is very delicately prepared, and nothing like I've seen before. Most bento boxes I've tried simply has ingredients being haphazardly shoved in and assembled, but the bento box served here is very well presented. The side dishes are of the perfect quantity (not too much, not too little) and the contrast of tastes within, and between, each sides are very well balanced. By far I would reckon it's one of the best bento boxes I've had, but then again I've never travelled to Japan before so I can't speak of how it compares to the real thing... I'd say they're very close!Would definitely return again.
My girlfriend and I went on the recommendation of a friend but we were gravely dissatisfied. The food was very basic, expensive and the service was appalling. We certainly would not go again and do not recommend anyone does also.
I went there in January with a bunch of friends. We were about 10 people.Let's start with the positive: decoration is nice and the waitress is very nice and helpful. Then the most important, the food. Japanese is pricey but at least you expect to see it in your plate. To start with we have been informed about what was not available. No sushis, more precisely no raw fish, so no sashimi either. We were informed upfront indeed. Still I wonder how you cannot plan enough produce to cover your entire service set. it is not like if we have ordered something so exotic that it can run out because of the season. Plus we book the table upfront so they knew we were coming and had ten mouth to feed! Now that I am writing the review I see the other people comments and it looks like a habit to no longer food anymore available.Anyways so we went for the bento box type of meal. The inside of the box was good. Comparable to what you can find in Japan, specifically talking about the pickles products. Fish was cooked well, tiny portion though. However one very disappointing point is that they served us basmati rice.I am sorry but I go to the Japanese to eat Japanese not Thai or Vietnamese. This restaurant has been sold to me like the best Japanese in Toulouse. Well sorry but it is not.It is a shame. On top saying they had no raw fish they should have told us they had no rice. We would have been somewhere else.Plus worth to mention winter is cold and we had to wear our jacket to finish the dinner. The table close to the entrance is very windy cold.So guys there are space from improvements. Decoration is cool but what is in the plate matter the most.
Ok... So it is the first time I am finding it hard to write a review.. We went there for lunch and had the menu with some side dishes.. We wanted to try the Chikenkatsu (fried chicken with some sweet sauce): it was industrial chicken nuggets with some pre-made sauce. Absolutely disgusting. The rest of the meal was fine but nothing amazing. The atmosphere could be nicer. The service is one of the weirdest I have experienced so far. The greetings were arrogant and cold. Then the boss started chatting for such a long time.. When the next customers came, he repeated them exactly the same stuff as us. No personality, no care.. He is talking like a robot and looks fake all the way. All in one, don't go!
I went in this restaurant a few years back and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, nothing on the menu is available and in the end , there's not much choice left. It is very pricy for what you get. I can guarantee there's only one good Japanese restaurant in Toulouse ( but I bet I can't mention it on here). Its such a shame because for once the cook is really Japanese but the service + menu are not up to the standards. If you want to have some of the things of the menu you have to order them in advance ( before you arrive at the restaurant that is... ).... Non, non et non!!! Too expensive as well!!
