Contribuisci feedbackWe went there with a couple of friends. We were lucky to get the last seats as the place was full of people. I thought that the decoration of the place was so unique. It really was a pleasure to be there. Also, the way the whole place was put together gave a sense of a happy mess, I can't really decribe but, if you get the opportunity, you shoudld definitely go to this restaurant ! The staff was really friendly. The choice of teas is quite impressive as well !
Stumbled across le Bol Bu on a days siteseeing around the back streets. There are a few other restos nearby as its right by the museum. Sign looks shabby. Service is slow. But it was a lovely , relaxing place to have lunch. If you're about to pass out with hunger or don't like loos where your knees almost hit the wall, I'd go elsewhere .... if you want something independent, non greasy, friendly, and salads stacked deep, make a trip. massive tea selection. Waitress / chef made a massive effort to chat to me, and help me out with suggestions of where I should visit in english.
I was planning to have a luch in Le May, but the place was no longer serving lunch, so I went to le Bol Bu, since it was close and I fancied some nice bretonne-style crepes that day. Oh dear, those were really good! I had the one with tuna and capers, and it was both tasty and filling. I also loved their salads - you can literally taste how fresh are all their ingredients. If you are around, this place is a winner! I am coming back to Toulouse next week and I will definitely be paying Le Bol Bu a second visit!
Le Bol Bu was my favorite place in Toulouse as a student. Fifteen years later, not much has changed: the tea selection is still huge (except they no longer have banana tea), the salads are good and the crepes (pancakes) are just delicious. You cannot go there if you are in a rush though because the service is friendly but often slow. It is the perfect place to relax on an afternoon. The poster in the loo always surprise my British friends. I let you have a look. The old fashion deco is fantastic. Even though I spent ages in this place, I always enjoy dreaming looking at the beautiful lamps and the numerous strange paintings and posters on the walls. It is just opposite the 'Musee de Toulouse' which is also an interesting place in a beautiful building (not always open unfortunately).
I heard about Le Bol Bu while in Toulouse for a meeting. It is hidden on a little street south of the square in by the Capitole, and by hidden, I meant that there is not a big sign above the door (#8) and the door is nicely concealed, blending in with the rest of the windows in the store front. We went for a spot of lunch and were richly rewarded. We both had salad--a large serving along with bread. The menu has at least 40 different kinds of tea--something for everyone. I went for the orange pekoe and was pleased to have a large pot brought along with a strainer. There almost an equal number of crepes listed--mine was banana, chocolate, and almonds. The food was terrific, the weather nice enough for a table on the quiet street, and pleasant service from all three staff members. This little spot is worth finding and making time for. We were sorry to have found it only on our last days (how many reviews mention that? maybe 20%?).
