Contribuisci feedbackV difficult to get solid info on the bar cafe food before we went to a show which was frustrating as there is no where else nearby to eat. Told theatre opened at 12.30 but had to stand outside the building for literally 20mins. And this was Xmas when they could have had business. Eventually inside we ordered and the mains came before the first course we had ordered. Yes apparently they were short staffed or so we were told but a bit off putting. Then it took ages before the main course did come back again and I was concerned it might not be so hot, when we were ready. I had to chase the waiter. Not sure they are that geared up for main meals in downstairs bar. Menu read v good but delivery questionable which is a pity to report. But we had travelled a long way to come to this special theatre. At least they had mulled wine after the show.
Wonderful succulent chicken on bed of rocket and tasy foccaccia partner had chestnut and squash casserole. this place is great for what it does nice menu not overly ambitious but just good, fresh ingredients you can really taste starter of allotment veg with puree was refreshing and nice atmosphere goes without saying all within iconic music hall venue which is a treasure in itself
A wonderful bar to relax in over a drink or excellent bar snacks. The atmosphere is hard to describe: a building saved from dereliction but the walls left bare of plaster in a stunning renovation revealing the structure of this odd set of buildings hiding a music hall behind the fronts of several terraced houses. The public rooms the bar upstairs and the Mahogany Bar on the ground floor are scattered with a mixed set of chairs and tables. The bar snacks olives, nuts, salami, chips, ham roll and excellent Beigel with salmon cream cheese and a very tasty crab avocado toast may be standard fair but it all amounts to a comfortable genuine place. Open all day the Mahogany Bar had locals settled in at tables with their laptops shortly after 5 when we arrived, earlier than we needed to for the evenings play, but we hadn't been sure of the parking easier than expected since it was our first visit. Highly recommended as a casual, friendly venue either just for drinks or for the theatre.
The Mahogany Bar is part of Wiltons music hall and if you are going to a show it is convenient to eat here first. Check the website to make sure they are serving food the night you are going. You can reserve a table and I'd recommend you do that as when it's busy you will be hunting for a table. They serve snacks on show nights from 5pm and meals from 6pm. As I hadn't eaten there before I asked what size the portions were as I was going to order a main course and a pudding. I was told the dishes were fairly substantial so I ordered just a main course. It was OK but I was still a bit hungry and then I didn't have time to order a pudding and for it to be served before the show. So if you have a healthy appetite I would suggest you need to order more than just the main course. Enjoy!
Tough to get a seat in this small bar that is part of Wiltons music hall. But still worth visiting for the good range of beers and of course the ambiance.
