I was in this part of NY with my fiancee for a funeral. I personally needed to get out after the services and was craving some BBQ; we found this place after a quick Google search. To be honest, I was slightly hesitant when we pulled up and saw the building but the reviews were solid so in we went. And, WOW I'm glad we did! Let's start with our waitress. She was amazing from the moment we went in. She was a little busy at first and rather than just letting us sit there to wonder what was going on she came over, let us know she would be with us shortly, and grabbed us a couple drinks. Communication! That's all I ever ask for when I'm dining out. When she came back my fiancee was having some trouble figuring out what she wanted. Our waitress asked if we had ever been there before and we said no. She brought out, without us asking, a sample platter of their sides so we could give them a shot. An amazing idea that took about 2 minutes to come up with but meant the world to us. Throughout our dinner she made sure to refill drinks before they sat there too long and check in with us after a couple bites to make sure everything was great. I am a GM for a very high end restaurant in NH and I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to dining out, yet I would take her for my restaurant anytime. The food was stellar. Fall off the bone ribs, maybe the best beans I've ever had, and mashed potatoes with brisket gravy that I couldn't get enough of. After our meal the owner, Bob came out to check on our meal and we ended up in a 20 minute conversation about food, the industry, and life. He was so tuned into the area that he even knew of my fiancee's uncle that had passed. I rate a good amount of places I go (I tend to eat out a lot in New England) but it's rare I write a review. I told Bob I would write this one and I needed to follow through. If you want BBQ, come here. The next time we're in the area I know I'll be here again. One of the best dining experiences I've had in quite some time! Check this place out!
Absolutely everything about this place was great. When our waitress found out it was our first time there she got us a side sampler platter, this way we could try all their sides to decide what we wanted with our meal. Food was absolutely delicious!!! The owner even came out to make sure everything was great and just chatted with us for awhile. Definitely recommended everyone in the area stop in.
An inconsistent experience. The ribs tasted good, but they were overdone. The brisket tasted good, but it was underdone. The sides were mediocre, and the beans tasted of nothing but Jalapeno. The service was fast and polite, but the price is very high for BBQ. It was okay, but not worth a return visit.
Heintzelman's catered our 50th wedding anniversary. Everything was delicious. Everyone there loved everything, especially the mac and cheese. The brisket was the best. Will have them cater again when we have a party. Thank you for doing this for us.
