The Metropole Hotel - Townsville

Quick tasty pub food, friendly service and situated in a top spot on the waterfront. You can sit outside and soak up the atmosphere.

It was very easy to get a table in the restaurant this Thursday night. The food was ok and served quickly. The fettuccine carbonara is described as average. I had the barramundi with vegetables for an extra three dollars. Service ok, nothing exceptional. Was surprised that the bar had no gin at all. I sat at a table where the laminate had come off the chipboard table top which meant that each time I leaned forward to eat, my tee shirt snagged on the chipboard. Overall ok, nothing special, not likely to return.

We met a group of around 12 people for drinks and dinner. The food was good, good prices and selection and delivered quickly. The drinks a good price. The position is great with inside or outside tables. Recommended.

Was out for an early morning walk when in Townsville for work and noticed that the Metropole had been fully renovated and was open for business.Great that they have kept the original hotel in front of the accommodation tower behind and completely refreshed the interior. Decided then to come back and try out the restaurant for lunchWas really quiet when I turned up, only one other couple in the restaurant.Ordered a chicken schnitzel. Thought the price was very reasonable.Didn't have to wait long....obviously.Schnity was a great size for the price however a little over cooked but was still tender at least. Enjoyed it and the nicely presented salad. Service was a little poor, given that there was only 3 in the restaurant. The waitress served as the the barmaid as well as taking orders and doing other stuff and the chef delivered the food to the table.Recommend as a change from the rest of the Palmer St food.

We order lunch it came fairly quickly, the service was very quick the food was full of flavour and taste the grilled Chicken with Mexican sala with cucus. Very mouthful was a delicious. The only thing we didn't like was that our bread and entree came with the main meal, a slip up but when you order you make it clear you want the entree first.
