Sushi-ei Sogawa Shop - Toyama

When they go to sogawa, a place famous for sushi and sashimi, they need to taste sushi egg. from 17 o'clock to 11 o'clock many people wait outside. 3 to 4 experienced chefs serve them and they only have to order what they want and they deliver directly before them. the sushi is extremely fresh and it is amazing that the cook is written down what they eat and they just have to check the bill at the theke and the cook will tell the cash the total cost of their meal. it's really interesting! I recommend you to order the sushi one by one and not order the set as the sushi in the set may not fit for your appetit.

We visited twice. the first visit included a 40min wait, but it was good worth it. thick slices of fresh sushi. good quality and friendly cook, although we are not able to speak Japanese. the next day we returned a little earlier and enjoyed our dinner again. when we're back in town.

Popular sushi shop mainly serving local seafoods caught in Toyama Bay. No alcohol drinks served. And please bring cash. I ordered dishes individually. Didn’t go for the set. Sweet Shrimp tastes better in Fall and Winter seasons. Ordered twice. Some of dishes are already put with salt, so didn’t need to dig soy sauce.

Visited this shop during a weekday dinner time for the raving reviews. No crowd and very professional sushi masters behind the counter. The younger staffs speak English and will be happy to provide you with an English menu. Try the makase 10 piece sushi for a start and prices range from 3000 yen to 5000 yen for 3 different rank of makase course. Make sure you try the nodoguro fish as it is a premium local speciality. Be warned that this store do not sell liquor. Awesome dishes but a slightly premium price but worth the experience.
