Meal was quite bland and chips were awful so said my wife. Very disappointing, and unbelievable that they stopped serving food at 8pm on a Friday night. A few punters came in to eat and were advised where else to go… Not the place it used to be pre Covid.
Visited for dinner this weekend and we’re left quite disappointed. We were greeted by some very friendly staff, who unfortunately seemed quite inexperienced. My partner ordered a main course portion of chicken dish from the starters menu and when our food arrived the waiter told us there had been a mix up in the kitchen and he received a starter portion, followed soon after by a second starter portion. Not the end of the world but no what we ordered. I had order a plant-based burger from the menu and what arrived was a double beef burger with bacon. Quite surprised, I called one of the waiters and was told “oh yes the vegan burger is off sorry”. He wasn’t rude in any way but I was baffled as to who thought it was ok to substitute a meat burger for a plant-based burger for a vegetarian customer?? The only other meat-free option on the menu was a veg pasta so I ordered that instead. What arrived was fine but quite bland and the garlic bread on the side was merely warm bread with garlic butter. My partner also commented that his food was fine but had mo great flavour. The staff deducted the cost of our drinks from the bill by way of apology, which we did appreciate but unfortunately it did little to change our experience. Would not recommend.
A visit to Connie Foxes is a must do when in Tralee especially if you are looking for excellent food, excellent and fantastic staff...so good we came back three times during our stay.
From the very beginning, Derek the general manager was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He was always very informative replying to emails and when I came to the Imperial Hotel to look at the three possible dining areas, he was very friendly and attentive. The hotel gave us a good rate for food options for day 2 of our wedding and even had gorgeous, personalised menus printed when we arrived. We opted to sit in the cellar as it was very private and cosy. The food was delicious, and the service was perfect. The Imperial have lovely waiting staff. All in all, it was a perfect location and quality dining experience. We highly recommend the Imperial for gatherings, parties or events, as Derek and his team are brilliant at what they do and they make sure everything goes perfectly.
I went for Sunday lunch and the service was excellent. We were seated promptly and our drinks were served within a few minutes. However, the experience went downhill from there. I ordered the lamb with mashed potatoes and chips, but I was only served a small slice of lamb on a bed of mashed potatoes with a tiny portion of carrot puree. I didn't receive any chips or vegetables. When I brought this to the attention of the waitress, she apologized and said she would deduct the missing items from the bill, but did not offer to bring me any vegetables. When I went to pay, the same waitress charged me the full amount for the meal. Overall, I would have preferred to pay a higher price for a decent meal rather than what I received.
