Sparks Bbq - Traverse City

I went to this restaurant for the first time with friends and tried the pulled pork sandwich, the mac daddy smash potatoes, and the chips and cheese. Everything was delicious! I will definitely be returning.

Oh my goodness! This was probably the best barbecue I've had in a long time. I tried the ultimate nachos with brisket and they were amazing. The dessert was also delicious. I would definitely come back again. The menu is small, but the quality is outstanding.

Perhaps due to the slow time, or maybe because the pandemic has led to a decrease in income, many restaurants are currently struggling. All I can comment on is my recent experience. The brisket was cut too thick, a sign that it was overcooked and dried out. The burnt ends were also too thick, and the meat lacked the desired smoke flavor. The sides were also lacking in quality. It is difficult for restaurants to maintain high standards when they are trying to quickly turn over food. Let's support Sparks so they can return to their previous level of quality. It's a catch 22 - why support if the quality is lacking? Because they need customers for the long term. Do they have a special event coming up? Give them a chance! Traverse City needs a great barbecue restaurant, and Dickies is not it.

Definitely recommend Sparks. The food is incredible and the wait staff is friendly and engaging. We tried a couple different items and each one was superb. We will be back for sure!!
