She assured us there was plenty left, so we thought everything was fine. However, by 7 PM, after finishing our dinner and trying to order dessert, she looked at us blankly and informed us they had run out. We couldn't believe it—she knew we meant to order it! At any other restaurant, they would likely have let us know earlier that it was running low, especially since we were sitting right next to the bar. It would have been even better if she had reserved a piece for each of us, as all three of us had shown interest. Honestly, considering the awful veggie burger and frozen chips, perhaps it was a blessing that they ran out of sticky toffee pudding, as it likely would have been just as disappointing. We definitely do not recommend this place and have no intention of returning.
In the winter, finding an open pub in this part of the UK feels like a lucky break! This charming little pub provided a cozy place to warm up and enjoy a meal. They offer classic, budget-friendly comfort food—exactly what we needed in the cold weather. Both pies were quite tasty, with the fish pie being especially noteworthy, while the onion rings were just average. However, the highlight was definitely their homemade brownie, served warm with a scoop of ice cream on top.
The Logan Rock Inn is steeped in local folklore and history, named after the famous "logan rock" that Lieutenant Hugh Goldsmith, R.N. (nephew of the well-known poet Oliver Goldsmith), dislodged from the cliff in 1824. Although he faced a ban for this act, he returned the rock at considerable personal expense, but he never regained his privileges at the bar. The pub has a cozy atmosphere, offering reasonably priced food and a good selection of local drinks, making it a perfect place to unwind after a day spent soaking up the sun and enjoying the nearby beaches. There’s a lovely garden at the back and a few outdoor tables at the front for a pleasant al fresco dining experience. Additionally, there’s a small dining area for families seeking a quieter atmosphere away from the lively pub environment. Overall, it's a wonderful place to relax.
