If we are coming back somewhere near Troisdorf or Cologne, we’ll surely eat again in this lovely place.
We had a very cosy evening with some tapas and a good glas of wine, but the calamares a la chef made our day, they were just perfect. Fresh food for a decent price. Nice terrace if the weather permits.
We found this restaurant almost by accident as it is not near the tourist centers. It caters to the locals (which I like) but is very inviting for people who don’t speak German, like me. It is family owned. The father is behind the bar supervising the dining area and his son is the chief. The inside is very nicely decorated. It has a warm and inviting feel, like being a guest at a home. The first time we were there the chief greeted us and helped us order. He creates dishes that are truly amazing! We have been back several times and each time the chief explains what types of dishes he would like to create, and adds a bit of information about the region and history of the dish. He is clearly very talented and shows a passion for his work. In New York (my home town) this level of fine dining is very expensive. The prices are very reasonable, two beers and dinner is 20 Euro or less.
On our way back home (two families with children (4-9yrs)) we were looking for a good restaurant for a decent meal. We found it in this local, cozy, familiary and good restaurant! Very good food (very nice home made chicken nuggets for the kids and especially the jagerschnitzel is recommended!), friendly owner and waiters who made us feel very welcome. Very good price-quality ratio. Perfect spot for a good meal, I would surely recommend this restaurant!
