City Barbeque - Troy

Redds was so sweet and helpful! With my first time here he really made me feel great about my decision! Saemaja was sweet and speedy! I would also like to mention Jared he was so sweet and he made sure everything was great and delicious. You can really tell that everyone loves what they are doing through the amazing customer service.

I liked all the sides we sampled except the Mac and cheese which was not baked as I prefer and the cheese of choice was non descript. Will re-order without Mac and cheese.

Ordered food here twice. First time I got the brisket which had great flavor but was super dry. The beans were great. Gave them another shot as the flavor was good. Ordered a Nashville hot chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese. Chicken was thin and again dry. Mac and cheese was over cooked and just mush. Bummer as it has potential!

Overall great experience and good food. Service at the counter was really nice! We had the Judge sampler; I’ll break down each item on the tray. First the meats: the pulled pork was 10/10 juicy and great smoke. The brisket was fatty and melt in your mouth 9/10. The chicken had really flavorful skin and great smoke; albeit just a tad dry- 7.5/10. The ribs had good flavor as well, but not tender. Might have been around for awhile or just over cooked but I would try again to make sure 6/10. The sides: baked beans were excellent and the sauce was sweet 9/10. The coleslaw was really fresh, good cabbage, 9/10. The Mac and cheese was nothing to write home about. Cooked well but very bland, 3.5/10. We’ll be back!!

I was hoping so much for this location to be good. We love city bbq. The brisket was extremely overcooked and the rub seemed to be overly salty. the pork was very fatty and mostly inedible. The turkey was good. the chicken was smoked very well. the mac n cheese was thick and not creamy like usual. the cornbread was delicious. the garlic toast was yum aswell. the fried pickles were lightly battered and the pickle had a nice salt balance with the breading. All in all I wont be back to this location but hopefully it was just a bad timing. (it was a Friday at 5.
