My husband and I passed this bakery while out for a walk yesterday (10/22/21) and decided to pop in to grab a ready-made pastry to go. As we walked in we realized they were going to be closing in 5—10 minutes. The woman behind the counter didn’t acknowledge us and glared at me as we approached the area to order. I'm glad I tried the koign amman, every bite was melt-in-your-mouth richness. I also enjoyed the coffee cake, but just getting one of those pastries is enough of a filling treat of a breakfast.
I am bummed out because I really wanted to like this place. I lived in France for quite a long time, so I admit that I have a high bar for really good croissants. I ate too many! Every croissant was burned, which is a shame, because they should be very delicate and cooked perfectly. And the feuilleté is incorrect. It’s not beautiful and light and airy like one would hope, but it was very doughy. And heavy. And they are supposed to have a lot of butter, but I thought it was a little heavy-handed … – show
