If you live in Weipa, there are essentially four pub/restaurants to choose from. Keep in mind that Weipa is a remote mining town, so don't expect fine dining or cheap prices. However, the meal prices here are comparable to other places. The club and restaurant are separate but located under one roof, offering a variety of options including a restaurant, public bar, gaming area, playground, and outdoor seating. They also serve lunch, which I find a bit pricey but a nice treat on weekends. The service can be slow at times due to the busy nature of the venue. They occasionally have live music, hold special events like Anzac Day, and show sporting events on the big screen. Most of the waitstaff are either currently in school or have recently graduated, and while they may lack experience, they are always polite and friendly. In my opinion, this is the best value and venue in Weipa.
The staff was extremely friendly and the prices of the dishes were fair. We didn't have to wait too long for our food to arrive, and there is even a playground for the kids. The portions were big and the food tasted fantastic!
Arrived looking for a quick meal after a long day driving before heading for my motel room. Restaurant at the bowls club (bistro would be more accurate) was closest so headed there. One couple eating when I got there and a large table with a group of 20 or so. Ordered my overpriced meal straight away, grabbed a drink and sat down to wait, and wait, and wait. After 15 minutes two men sat at the next table and ordered. Another two tables filled. I kept waiting. When after more than 40 minutes. Meals were brought out to the next table (who arrived and ordered at least 15 mins after me) I asked the young waitress if my meal was going to be much longer. When she asked the chef he yelled back "ITS COMING"! She must have figured I heard as she didn't come back and let me know. Another 10-12 minutes and my Pork Cutlet and veg finally appeared, drowning in the same pepper sauce almost every cheap pub offers with steak. When she put it down there was a rather abrupt "sorry it took a while" with about the same level of sincerity that my 10 year old offers with apologies given under sufferance.
