We all ordered the Filipino breakfast with the daing bangus, which was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and served in a generous portion. The coffee was freshly brewed and had a true coffee taste, unlike the overly sweet instant coffee often found in packets.
I always wondered how hummus would taste as a pasta sauce. I was pleasantly surprised to find it at a small café in La Union. S.O.U.L Café, located on the road to North in Pindprio, La Union, is a great dining option for those looking for something different from the typical Filipino cuisine offered at places like Chowking or Mang Inasal. The café has a Bohemian vibe with art-filled walls, reminiscent of a beachside café. The menu offers a variety of dishes that are more reminiscent of trendy restaurants in Makati or BGC, but at reasonable prices. For vegans, the hummus pasta (without shrimp) is a good choice, although the ratio of hummus to basil could be improved. The lemon green drink, made with basil and lemon, is a refreshing option. The downside is that the service can be slow and the servers may not be very knowledgeable about the menu.
