Cartel Coffee Lab - Tucson

I had a fantastic experience at this coffee shop. The atmosphere is unique, and the decor is playful. I was especially impressed by the vegan pop tart; it's quite a challenge to create a good pastry dough without eggs and butter, but they nailed it. I also tried one of their signature drinks, the iconic tonic, and I was amazed by how well the espresso, grapefruit juice, and tonic water complemented each other. Overall, the creativity of the food and drinks here is truly remarkable and left a lasting impression on me.

As soon as I stepped through the door, I was captivated by the enticing aromas of unique coffee specialties. If you haven't experienced this place yet, you absolutely should; and if you have, chances are you loved it. If not, I truly empathize with you. For those in search of artisanal coffee, the traditional Cartel roaster is the perfect spot. I tried the CCL, while my wife enjoyed a honey lavender matcha, and both were simply exceptional.

As someone who is particularly sensitive to the way I'm greeted at the counter, I always approach with caution. However, I was delighted when the barista welcomed me with a cheerful hello and a smile. I ordered a mocha, which I really enjoyed. That said, I did have a couple of minor concerns. I found the prices to be a bit steep for the size of the drink. I ordered a small for nearly $5, and after leaving a $1 tip, it felt like an expensive coffee for such a small size. My other issue was that the employee preparing my coffee didn't smile at all during my visit. I thanked her a couple of times with a smile, but I didn't receive anything in return. I know she was focused on her work, but a little smile would have been nice. Despite these issues, I'll definitely be returning, if only for the lovely atmosphere.

I had a maple iced latte and their lemon bar. Everything was delicious! They have a very laid back atmosphere, cool industrial art, and lots of space/seating. The staff was kind and attentive. Would love to come again or check out their other locations!

I 've enjoyed Cartel for the past 4 years and location to location (I 'm currently at the downtown Tucson location), bean to bean, brew to brew, I 've never been disappointed. Most locations are also a great place to have a meeting. One important note at most places, most coffee shops, you 're tempted to get fancy and go for the more expensive brew don 't start there, the basic drip is fantastic even though today I did a poor over (don 't judge me for being bougie). Yes the fancy beans are wonderful, you won 't want to go back and try the basics you should and if you try the 'Carmen Washed ' (my favorite) you 'll find a fruity and wonderfully light brew.
