The food itself, once it 's cooked, is decent. The service was fine almost overly friendly (the server had a touchy feely approach which made me feel a bit uncomfortable). It 's the whole concept of the restaurant itself that I think I 'm uncomfortable with. Sure, I like assembling my own food to be cooked. I like the ability to add just what I want. The sauces, though which you get a variety of different sauces and ingredients to choose from (including sherry, although I think it 's cooking sherry , which has added salt) can be a bit tricky. It 's possible to mix different sauces together and end up with a rather harsh tasting concoction. My suggestion would be to stick with one sauce, and add way more to your bowl than you think is necessary because once it 's on the grill, the cook let 's it cook down and concentrate. That process, which is better than some Mongolian grills that 'll add splashes of water to the vegetables, intensifies the flavors (good OR bad). You DO get suggestions on how to mix different ingredients to come up with a new sauce. But I 'm just not a fan of this style of restaurant. It 's a buffet, yet your food still has to be cooked. By assembling the different ingredients in bowls that are actually rather small you are actually putting in a fair amount of work. And there 's no guarantee that you 'll like what ends up on your plate. Like I said earlier, my server was almost overly friendly in an uncomfortable way. I don 't need pats on my shoulders to be shown good customer service. I mentioned the small bowls if you have a big appetite, you 'll need a minimum of two trips through the line to get filled up. Apparently the servers are trained to bring you your check after your second trip. I don 't know if a third trip is allowed, but once I 'm presented with my check, I usually take that as a sign that I need to pay and leave once I 'm finished eating what 's in front of me. You CAN order items from a menu, like egg rolls and potstickers, plus some dessert items. I didn 't try the desserts, but I did order a small plate of potstickers. 4 for $7.99, which is steep. And, they were deep fried rather than pan fried, and served with a sweet and sour sauce instead of a savory dipping sauce. Very overpriced. When I go back, I 'll pass on the menu items. Again, I 'll go back. But it 's going to be a while.
We REALLY like the food here. But it’s a bit high so we only go when we have a coupon of some sort. Well, at the end of our meal the waitress said that we couldn’t use the coupon because it was a holiday. We looked at each, and then asked “What holiday?” She replied “Columbus Day.” At that point we laughed. Of course Columbus Day is not considered a holiday anywhere. Well maybe at banks, but not at businesses. To her credit, the waitress eventually gave us the discount. And we did go back a week later on another deal. But with this bad experience, and the review by the guy who was falsely accused of lying by the manager when he went to his car to get allergy medication, I’ve got to downgrade the star level. The manager really needs to understand American culture.
Took my son for his first time. Had an allergy VIP plate. Ended up accidentally getting a piece of mushroom in my food which I had an immediate allergic reaction to. Ran to the bathroom to be sick. And while my son and his young wife were getting their second plates I went out to my car to retrieve the medication to combat the allergic reaction. The manager chased me out the door threatening me while I was trying to get to my car to get medication. I told her the other two people I 'm with are still in the restaurant and she called me a liar. Everyone saw what happened I am absolutely mortified. She chased me down like I 'm some kind of a criminal when I was going to get medication from my car to address a food allergy. Then she made a scene when we got back inside after I took my medication. I tried to explain that I was with two other people and they were in line to get their food cooked. But she was having none of it told me I wasn 't allowed to come back and told me not to pay for my food because I am not allowed back. I sure wish I would have never stepped foot in that place. The waitress staff and the cooking staff were wonderful. I should have listened when I was told that the quality and professionalism of the management has gone way downhill recently.
The restaurant was not clean, no one waited on us. 6:00 Friday evening, only one server was to be seen. We got our food, then went to a table. My husband went to the kitchen to find a server to ask for napkins and drinks. Again, only one server working, the others were talking in the kitchen. When we were ready to leave, i went to the front and asked the one working server if we could pay. She went to find our waitress who i had never seen before. The woman asked me how I wanted to pay and seemed surprised that I wanted a check. When she came back I told her the price was not fair because we were not offered our bowl of rice, soup and salad. She said she would have to ask her manager if she could offer a discount. What a shame. Manager issue I won 't be back here.
We walked in 30 minutes before closing and no one would serve us. We waited for about 5 minutes, watched the waiters and waitresses and realized we weren't getting service cuz they wouldn't make eye contact with us so we left.
