Benjamin runs the place and his English is very good and he is pleasant and very funny. One of our favorite meals was our last dinner there. We had a late lunch so we weren't too hungry, so my husband had a ham and cheese baquette and I had the ceviche. I was a little wary ordering fish but it was excellent. The restaurant also had one of the better wine selections that I have seen in Mexico. And all were priced very reasonable. This little restaurant was truly one of the highlights to our trip to Tulum. We were staying for 2 months in Playa del Carmen and the Tulum trip was a mini vacation within a vacation. This restaurant is not to be missed if you go to Tulum. Easy to find and worth the effort.
We love this place. The owners, the staff and the food are are wonderful! Breakfast, lunch and dinner are equally delicous.
We came to le bistro for a breakfast to fill us for a full day of activities. And that’s certainly what we got. Service is friendly and quick. Good prices for budget travellers that would like a breakfast that consists of more than just a yogurt. Try the omelettes, scrumptious!
We ate here two nights. Had a very good prochitto (sp pizza on the first night. Very thin and crisp. Second night had pasta and one of their sandwiches. The pasta was good, but the sandwich (something 'Mexicano ' was so simple and unexpectedly good that I had to mention it. I believe they bake their own rolls and they also provides a earthy flavor seasoning. For something not complex it was remarkably flavorful, crunchy and satisfying. Worth mentioning that in Tulum -where wine is incomprehensibly expensive- we had several glasses of very nice, and reasonably priced wine here. Restaurant is two short blocks off the main road in Tulum.
I came here twice for dinner, since I wanted something else than my usual tacos. I had the tuna ceviche and mushroom pasta, which were both prepared in a European-French way and really tasty. The waiter/cook, was very friendly. Since he did both the waitering and cooking, it took a bit more time, but that's only understandable.
