Star Hotel Bistro - TUMUT

We have had the pleasure of watching Melissa's culinary journey and to see what she is achieving at The Star is incredible. We too are in the industry and only eat at The Star whilst visiting Tumut. The bar and dining room have been elegantly renovated and the gorgeous open fires warm the cockles. Always a favourite with delightful food and staff.Keep up the great work

Had not been here for a number of years so decided to visit for lunch and check out the new chefThe dining room is under renovation which should be completed soon. So meals are served in the lounge at the back. It was ok but will be nice to have a bright dining room soon.The menu is quite extensive for a small kitchen but should meet the needs of most diners. I had the Lamb wrap which was toasted. Presentation was good and the meal was very tasty. The waitress was very enthusiastic and helpful.We had a glass of wine with lunch. Wine list was very basic.Meal was great. I look forward to returning when the new dining room is in operation. Good value!

Easily the cheapest place in town. Now offering night meals and a menu with some variety. Worth a try if you are on a budget for lunch. I only had a basic meal but it couldn't be faulted

Friendly bar staff, reasonable prices but after 50 minutes no sign of the food. Could wait no longer and went to KFC. Unfortunately, the Bistro is a pay-before-you-eat establishment and we did our money. The occasional meals delivered to other tables did look to be good pub food. But we observed a table of three where two of the diners had almost finished their meals before the third received hers. This was our third trip to Tumut, second time we had to go to a fast-food restaurant after our dining choice failed to provide food. In the first instance it arrive quickly enough but was inedible. Not a town noted for its dining and not a town we will return to.

The bistro only opens on lunch times except Sunday. Menu includes the usual pub classics but the cook also does daily specials. Very good quality at a fair price
