The Stables Downtown Grill - Tupelo

I normally don’t order salmon at restaurants because I’ve never been impressed with it. However, that changed after I tried the salmon salad at Stables, which quickly became my favorite dish there. The grilled salmon was perfectly seasoned and had an incredible smoky flavor from the charcoal grill. The service at Stables is consistently excellent, with friendly staff, a great selection of music from the jukebox, and a cozy atmosphere.

We will NEVER go back. The atmosphere feels like a hangout for locals and they don't seem to welcome outsiders. When we first moved to Tupelo, we visited this place a few times and enjoyed the alley location, as well as the decent food. We overlooked the inconsistent service and the unpleasant, dirty eating area in the alley. However, after a few disappointing experiences, we decided to stop going. During the pandemic, we tried it again, but they only offered takeout with a limited menu and just one server, which wasn't ideal.

The food here is absolutely top-notch. Today, I enjoyed a cheeseburger loaded with all the fixings—seriously, everything you could ask for! It had cheddar, pepper jack, pickles, green peppers, onions, bacon, and a well-seasoned beef patty, all served on a perfectly toasted, buttered bun. Incredible! And I have to mention the fries—without a doubt, they are the best in town. As usual, I ended up taking half of my burger home with me. On our latest lunch outing with friends, we tried a variety of dishes, including a generous catfish plate that’s great for sharing, a patty melt, and a pastrami and Swiss sandwich.

Wow, what a find! My wife I were in town to visit the Elvis attractions and see the historic downtown area. Although it is located in an alley, we found it easily. There is curbside angle-parking at one end of the alley a lot at the other end. We took seats at the bar and quickly made friends with Drew our Bartender and a few of the locals seated nearby. My wife chose enjoyed the catfish basket. I ordered and enjoyed a daily lunch special. Great folks, great

We stumbled upon The Stables by accident when another restaurant we were going to weren't serving catfish. We were very happy to discover it because we had a great meal. We both ordered the catfish with fries and the fish and fries were cooked perfectly. The fish had the right amount of crunch while the fries were hot and crispy.
