Soft Rock Bistro - Turner Valley

I'm sure the food would be good if the restaurant were actually open. Unfortunately, it was closed during our visit and their website was not updated. It was frustrating to drive out of town only to find it closed.

I have visited this restaurant several times, so I decided to try the baked lasagna. I would not recommend it unless you enjoy the taste of cinnamon or something similar. I found it to be too strong and surprisingly dry. The noodles seemed to be freshly cooked but lacked flavor. The menu mentioned a paprika and mushroom sauce, but I did not taste it. On a positive note, we received a complimentary salad due to a mix-up with another customer's order, which was very good. I would recommend the Caesar salad, but the lasagna definitely needs improvement as it was not tasty.

Great cheeseburger and smoked meat sandwich! Huge portions and great tasting. We'll be back. Good country to go to Black Diamond.

I would have thought that the top rated restaurant in Black Diamond, small as it may be, would live up to the ratings. I was left wondering what all the fuss was about. My meal was decidedly average and the service was less than. It might be hard to argue with a $13 beef dip but I'd rather pay $19, have clean washrooms, read a menu not full of items crossed out by sharpie, and have an attentive server.
