I was hoping for fresh seafood in Newfoundland, but instead we were served frozen seafood that you can find in any supermarket. The seafood was boiled and slightly burnt. We ordered fish, scallops, shrimp, and mussels, all of which were also frozen and pre-packaged. The bill came out to over $300.00, which was very disappointing as a Newfoundlander. I would not recommend dining at this restaurant again.
Had a night here dinner, and so we enjoyed it again for lunch the next day. Very simple selection on the menu, but they are well prepared and come quickly. Panfritted cod especially well. Beautiful view of the water from the window, but it is... quick busy, so reserve before time if you want it for meal time.
We had dinner at Shallow Bay before attending a street performance at the Nurse Myra Bennett Centre for Performing Arts. We started with the shells, which were fantastic. Our main dishes were fish cake and cod, both very well made, although the fish cake was a bit on the large side. The fries were excellent, but the vegetables were lacking in flavor. The service was attentive. If TripAdvisor allowed for half stars, we would rate our experience a 4.5.
Great breakfast. Fast friendly service. The breakfast was tasty and cooked to perfection. Dinner had generous portions.
