And Taiwan bubble tea that has clear tea flavours rather than sugar overload.<br/ <br/ A couple of nice Vegetarian options.<br/ <br/ You can order the cold noodles with sesame sauce without the ham. A real Taiwan tradition.<br/ <br/ They also have DouGan or marinated tofu as a side dish if wanting a protein hit.<br/ <br/ Very reasonable prices.<br/ <br/ Tea egg is nice for the Ovo veg. Makes me think of cold mornings in the Taiwan mountains ... Can smell the tea aroma from down the street.
Cucumber with Minced Garlic Salad: 5/5 best I've ever had?! Perfectly tangy, salty, sweet and refreshing, with the surprisingly strongest notes of sesame oil ever the texture of the cucumber strips tender, yet wonderfully crisp. How?! Would definitely get again (also featured carrots Soy Stewed Pork Belly Rice: 4.5/5 fragrant, the pork fat melty. Rice was soft and pleasant, with actual braised soy sauce on it thankfully to add flavour, and the dish was rounded out with pickled mustard and hard boiled egg Zhajiangmian: 4/5 definitely a less heavy version of the dish, in terms of serving size as well as topping; pork mince was mixed quite liberally with carrot cubes, cucumber strips and strangely, edamame beans. Noodles were fine but not particularly distinctive overall decent, but not as tasty as it's known to be (especially at this restaurant, where apparently years ago it was better Oyster Omelette: 4.5~5/5 best if not tied best with Hungry Paulie for this classic's deliciousness! Texture and taste most authentic and closest to that of Taiwan's, with bouncy tapioca starch messily mixed with substantial egg, juicy plump oysters, white cabbage, and the right accompanying pink sauce. Conclusion: An entire tier above Sunflower's Haymarket branch somehow?! (I can't believe there can be such a difference. Never visiting Haymarket's again. Maybe Broadway's Dandan noodles would actually be legitimate I'd be willing to come back to find out, and to try more dishes!
I highly recommend the beverages—they're reasonably priced and pair well with the food. Takeout is also a great option here. The food is served quickly, but I was a bit disappointed with the fried pork; it wasn't hot and lacked flavor.
Attentive service, good food and mediocre drink. Ordered their signature crispy chicken fillet for $6.50 and it was super yummy. Self serve condiments and water are a given. The passionfruit smoothie for $4.80 was ok, don't think ill buy it again. Happy to come again.
This place is definitely value for money. Portions are large and flavourful, but the lower food quality is noticeable e.g. Cuts of meat used compared to t+ or din tai fung. <br/ The drinks taste as good as any other place and are discounted if you buy a meal ^ ^ <br/ also short walk from usyd.
