Pepe's in Ozona, TX has to be the BEST texmex I've ever had! The steak tacos were charred to perfection. I added chopped onions, cilantro and came with avocado, 1 cheese enchilada and Excellent rice and beans. Order the ranchero sauce for your chips for $1.00. You will LOVE this hot salsa. Warm and has a little kick. The staff is on top of everything, friendly and attentive. Having lived in Houston TX for 47 years, I've tasted plenty of texmex and Pepe's wins my all time best award! I will never go thru Ozona Texas without stopping here in the future. Heard their chili relleno rocks as well. Happy Trails!
Had the beef enchiladas, as has been recommended on the site. They were lukewarm, or maybe they got cold as I waited for the server to bring me eating utensils. I had to wait for napkins. The refried beans were from a can, you can taste that after taste. The rice was good. Went to the bathroom, and no toilet paper or paper towels. Because it had great reviews, I went against my gut feeling of sitting down after all the tables were dirty and we had to wait for someone to come to clean the table we chose. This is not a 4 star establishment.
Very good.. Nice clean.. Some things get lost in translation.. But the food was good..
After a long day of driving, my friends and I stumbled upon this place while on the way to Big Bend National Park. We saw that it had good reviews on yelp, and boy did the place live up to its reviews. Upon walking in, you could tell that this hole in the wall type restaurant prided itself on its authentic food and customer service. The chips and salsa (especially the green tomatillo salsa) were the perfect start to the meal, as the salsa in particular was full of refreshing flavor and tasted homemade. I ordered the beef enchiladas, which were delicious. The tortillas of the enchiladas mixed with the red, chili sauce tasted amazing especially after a long day on the road. My friends ordered the carne asada fajitas and the burritos, and all of them loved their dishes as well. Most importantly however, was the service at Moreno's. The young man serving us was incredibly friendly and constantly wanted to make sure that we were doing okay. He was even nice enough to give us a discount on the Jarritos we ordered. Overall, my friends and I loved this place and were so glad we chose to eat here rather than at a fast food chain along the highway. I would highly recommend supporting this small, family owned business, as their authentic Mexican food certainly will not disappoint!
