Charlie's Stars And Stripes - Upland

I believe in great service as I have worked in the service industry for many years. As a food server and bartender.. so this goes without saying but, cheri was a great server went over and beyond to make sure My experience was remembered. She's out going and has a very welcoming smile. Charles stars and stripes is all American and family friendly . My good friend lives down the street and goes there just about everyday. I recommend going if your in the area. The trukey melt, the burgers, and the steak are amazing.. So hope you all enjoy! I know I have.

If I could give negative stars I would do it in a heartbeat. Every time I have been there the service has been slow and inefficient. I just found out today that they even stiffed the band Backstreet on a recent gig. Just for THAT I will never set foot inside again!

I want to start first by saying, I really really wanted to like this place. Upland residents are well aware that we are in need of places to eat in downtown Upland. Charlie 's was not crowded when we got there. There was one table for two outside, and two tables of customers eating inside and one customer sitting at the bar. There was a bartender behind the bar and two servers that we could see. When we walked in, we were told to sit where ever we wanted and someone would bring us menus. Danielle was our server and she was very friendly. We initally ordered a water and a diet coke while we looked at the menu. We immediately noticed for the type of food they were serving, the prices seemed high....in our opinion $2 3 too high per entree. We ordered the Sheriff (burger) with cole slaw and The Liberty Bell (roast beef hot sandwich) with regular fries. For as slow as the place was, we were surprised that our food took almost 25 minutes to come out of the kitchen. When it did arrive, I noticed the portion of fries was REALLY SMALL. They were delicious, but the portion size was MAYBE a handful, if that. Also, the Bell was odd. The horseradish was missing from the sandwich but it was also cut out like a boat , it was not like a normal sandwich. The middle of the bread was dug out and the filling (roast beef, onions and peppers) were placed in the middle. This left an inch and a half of just bread on each end and it was hard to eat because the filling would just squeeze out the top. WEIRD. My husbands hamburger and cole slaw were good but he felt the bun was way too much bread. I was not offered a drink refill (which is not a very big glass) until I was down to the 2 mouthfuls of bread left of the sandwich. And, for the two sandwiches and one drink, the bill came to $26.89 before tip. NOT WORTH IT. We regretted not just getting Subway and spending way less money. I 'm sad. We love to experience new places and want to like them but its doubtful we will return to Charlie 's when we can think of so many other places that provide a better value for the money for example, Heroes and Legends and also Espiau 's, which are both in the Claremont Village.

Been here twice, once a few months ago. Service was slow and food was cold. Not a great first impression, but I thought maybe I caught 'em on a bad day. Tried their food again last week. SAME situation. Made a mental note to avoid this place. Then I heard about the place stiffing their bands. Strike three. As a musician, that hits a bad note with me. Here 's your 1 star, Charlie. Avoid. Bad service and bad business practices.

My wife and I have been visiting this restaurant for almost a year on Thursdays for lunch. My wife loved the All-American burger, and I enjoyed the outstanding Reuben. The place has been repainted, and a new TV has been added, but the menu has been reduced, and both the All-American burger and Reuben are no longer available. They now serve fewer fries and smaller burgers. Shay, the new server, does a great job managing both the bar and all the booths. However, I was disappointed to see that they’ve hung pictures of veterans, dating back to WWII, outside the men’s room. I find it disrespectful to honor American veterans like this, especially considering the sacrifices they’ve made for our country. As a veteran myself, my wife and I have decided we will not be returning.
