I've stopped writing reviews for awhile because I simply have not had the interest to keep writing reviews on businesses. I've almost always been a little generous and have given businesses the benefit of the doubt when it came to an unpleasant experience. I've been in the service industry and food industry for awhile to know that sometimes things may go awry. However, this experience has been the absolute worst restaurant experience I've had in a really, really long time. I arrived around 7 PM so there was the expectation that there might be a wait for a table, service may be a little slow and that was okay, I was hungry and was willing to wait for a good bite. We were surprised to see that it wasn't all that busy. We were seated immediately next to the water. After being seated with our menus, we waited about 10-15 minutes for our drinks to be ordered as well as our appetizers. We were given cold bland pita bread as a complimentary food while we waited for our drinks and appetizers. After a decent 20 minute wait we got our drinks as well as our appetizer. We ordered two appetizers, forgive me for not remembering the name of the dishes however one was a spicy sausage and the other appetizer was similar to a spring roll filled with feta cheese. When they arrived to our table about 45 minutes after being first seated at our table, the sausage dish was cold on the outer edges of the dish and room temperature in the center; both flavorless and overpriced with lack of portion. I had two bites of the second appetizer because it was way too salty for it to be enjoyable and it was O.K. at best. We decided not to stay any longer and so we left before ordering our main course. We had no dedicated waiter/waitress but instead each time we needed to inquire on ordering our if we needed to ask any questions we had to flag someone down. After asking for our bill, we were forgotten and had to ask for our bill a second time. You're paying for the view and the romance of the setting, the food, service and experience is nothing short of underwhelming.
Tzatziki offers a charming, grotto-like setting on the banks of the Fyris River. Plenty of outdoor seating with heat lamps and blankets or cozy seating indoors. We arrived at 6pm on a Wednesday evening. The indoor dining tables were about half full. Only one table was taken outdoors, but it was fairly cold outside for early October. We were seated indoors immediately but after 20 minutes, we were still waiting for a waitress to bring water or ask for our order. We finally stopped a passing waitress and asked for water, drinks and dinner. It took another ten minutes to get water, but then the food came quickly. We ordered some appetizers and chicken souvlaki. Everything was adequate. Nothing great. But, we liked the setting.
I guarantee that no garlic was harmed in the making of this meal... quite bland, unimaginative food. if it's a hot summer day, it's worth sitting here by the mill race and enjoying the babbling water, but don't go for the food, or especially for the service: after 35 minutes, i had to all but body-check the greeter and i Did threaten loudly to just walk if i didn't get my bill in 1 minute; it came 3 minutes later. way to make me leave your restaurant angry, folks.
