J-Gumbo is your typical Cajun chain. Your food is good, and the location is on a college campus, near many other restaurants. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. The service was to be expected, but nothing special. I recommend the Bumblebee stone or the voodoo chicken. This is definitely a place where my fiancée and I are back on our trip to Indiana.
I always came by this place, but never walked in. My friends took me a few weeks ago. I was four times now and I love it! You have a punch card I plan at the end of the school year, and I bless them every weekend. Portions are huge, so I usually share with a friend. Great!
J Gumbo's is a cozy and tasty restaurant with so many good options. The dishes range from sweet to spicy, to savory and everything in between. My personal favorite: The Honey Sriracha Chicken over Mac Cheese (which is already delicious by itself). The portion sizes are perfect, with half bowl enough for a warm bite and full bowl for a warm, filling food, probably with residues! Coming from a college student, the prices are great, and they usually have a deal to use on hooked. Around a fantastic place to have a meal, especially with friends!
I've frequented this cozy restaurant many, many times over the past four years. Being a sweet tooth, I loved the Bourbon Street Chicken, and being a big guy, I was always stuffed full! I've tried several other amazing mixes, such as Drunken Chicken (spicy! and Bumblebee Stew, but my favorite for a while has been the Jean Lafitte, which is a mix of Voodoo Chicken and Bumblebee Stew. I have a terribly low spice tolerance, so I sweat bullets every time I eat it, but I love the flavors and textures to the point that it's worth it every time. Great to go alone, with a friend, or with a small group!
