Chase's Patio Grill - Urbandale

Everything I’ve ordered here has been delicious as well. I typically go for the seafood. Having lived in Louisiana and the South for a while during my time with AmeriCorps, whenever I want to relive those amazing food experiences, I think of Flying Mango. It brings back great memories. The owner, Mike, is one of the nicest guys you’ll meet. He walks around engaging with customers and getting to know them, which is really cool. The staff is always friendly and attentive; I’ve never encountered a rude or inattentive server here. Often, dinner comes with delightful conversations with the staff and entertaining stories. The restaurant’s layout and ambiance are also very pleasant. It can get crowded at times, which makes it a bit hard for me to hear, but we’ve been fortunate to find some cozy spots. Even when it's busy, it remains comfortable—there’s no feeling of being crammed in. Plus, I enjoy the artwork that decorates the space. Flying Mango is truly top-notch! I’d give it ten stars if I could. It’s definitely one of our favorite places!

Flying Mango is a cozy, locally-owned restaurant nestled in the heart of northern Des Moines. It's my family's first visit, and we ordered a variety of dishes. Everything was absolutely delicious! I should mention that the Creole dish we tried was quite spicy, but the flavor was incredible! This place is definitely worth a visit. I plan to return and try something milder next time.

We tried Flying Mango for a girls night out with friends. It is interesting that when you enter the restaurant you enter through the kitchen first when arriving- we had a big group and they wouldn't seat us till we were all present. Upon being seated we were taken to the back dining area that was less hot than standing in the kitchen area. Service was good. I ordered the jerk spice pulled pork sandwich with a side of veggies that we were told was Brussels sprouts and asparagus. No asparagus in it at all, the veggies were over cooked and mushy. Not my liking at all. The pulled pork was delish and had a great flavor!

Flying Mango is a BBQ establishment focused of fine dining and by the way, they do a great job of it. I have eaten at Flying Mango at least 5-10 times and not once have I left disappointed. The owner is generally in the dining room to make sure all patrons are happy with their food and service and he does not hesitate to jump in and help his servers when needed. Absolutely positively try Flying Mango; you will be glad that you did!

Food is incredible and the owner is very present and will float through the tables to check in with the patrons.
