Contribuisci feedbackI ordered the goat biryani and the naan sampler. I would definitely recommend these to anyone.
Service is HORRIBLE. Ordered online and got a confirmation but when I got to the restaurant I waited an additional 30 minutes. I was helped by 4 people who kept telling me 5 minutes until my food was ready and going to the kitchen and not coming back. Ended up canceling my order since it clearly wasn't started and went to Clay Oven down the street that always has great service. Wont be going back to Jashan. Don't recommend. Usually I'm very forgiving since I have worked in the food industry for a long time however there was 1 other couple in the restaurant and no one was able to communicate with me about my order.
They did not give me any rice and forgot my naan even when they checked the bag and compared my to go ticket. The vegetable pakoras were soggy and the samosas lacked flavor. My chicken in the tikka masala was under done. I ended up waiting way longer than I was told and it wasn't even busy in there. I tried to call to complain and they didn't answer the phone. Never going back.
I was very excited to try this restaurant because from the yelp photos I could see that they have a real tandoor oven (clay oven). I ordered Jashna chicken tikka masala, tandoori murg tikka and Chicken manchurian. I did not receive tandoori murg tikka but instead got tandoori chicken which was very stale and tasteless. The chicken pieces in the Jashna chicken tikka masala were so bad that I wondered how stale was that. I could not eat any of the dishes other than chicken manchurian. I had to throw it away and then go out again to get food. Worst indian restaurant experience I have had in Indianapolis.
I really really WANT to love this place. 1) it's advertised outside the building that they do a buffet Tuesday-Friday for lunch. We went here because my husband isn't really familiar with Indian food and wanted to try different things to see what he likes. Inside, we found out that they don't actually do a buffet. But that you can choose a sort of 3 item sampler. So we stayed 2) we really shouldn't have stayed...it was 11:45 (they open at 11) and yet, we walked in with the 2 employees/owners? who were opening. They were unlocking the door and turning on the lights as we walked in. While waiting to order, they were bringing containers of food(Indian food that I believe they were bringing to serve that day)in from a pickup truck outside. . 3) we ordered and definitely felt like we were an inconvenience being there. Asked a few questions about items. I tried to order pretty diversely so my husband could try a lot. We ordered tandoori chicken, tandoori veggies, a trio sampler with Chana masala, a lentil dal, and aloo gobi. Samosas and naan to start with. 4) to drink, we got water...they serve bottled water, which is fine, just unusual at a restaurant. The samosas were actually pretty good. The naan was ok. The rice was wet. Tandoori chicken was SUPER tough and dry. Tandoori veggies were like a chicken stew dish?that I've never gotten when ordering something like that at another Indian restaurant. This mystery dish was ok. The trio sampler didn't have one actual item that we ordered. What the waiter told me was Chana masala, looked to be some sort of a lentil stew that was yellow in color. It was actually quite tasty, but definitely was NOT Chana masala. What was maybe supposed to be aloo gobi, had no cauliflower in it. It was veggie based, but also had paneer. So...not aloo gobi. And the last was a kind of spinach/herb paneer...which was definitely NOT a lentil dal. I really wanted to love an Indian place that was this close to our home, but it was just weird. Waiter was unfriendly. They advertise things that they don't actually have. Bringing food in from their car was just strange and concerning. They opened late and were definitely not ready for nor happy to see customers. We were brought the wrong items and no one seemed bothered to fix or even acknowledge it. The only dish I can really recommend is samosas. But..Clay Oven also has samosas and the food there is actually good. And actually what you ordered. In conclusion, go ahead and drive a bit further north to Clay Oven. I recommend it 100x over Jashan.
