Despite requesting a specific table, we were seated next to the noisy bar. The noise level became unbearable as the bar filled up, making it impossible to hear each other. We waited over an hour to be served, and when the food finally arrived, only three out of seven meals were satisfactory - the lamb and steak dishes were good, but the rest were very poor. The fish dish, Gurnard, was overcooked and flavorless. The two steaks we ordered medium rare came well done. We decided not to send the food back due to the long wait and the baby's patience wearing thin. Additionally, we never received the drinks we ordered. To make matters worse, there were no baby changing facilities, so we had to change the baby on the floor surrounded by dogs. The lack of basic amenities such as a baby menu, high chair, and changing facilities was disappointing. The staff seemed demotivated, unenthusiastic, and forgetful. Overall, it was a memorable evening for all the wrong reasons. The chef should consider finding employment elsewhere.
I had previously experienced tough beef at this pub, so I decided to try the mega roast for £20, which includes pork, turkey, and beef. Unfortunately, all three meats were tough, dry, and tasted strange. The turkey even had grey spots in it. The portions all appeared to be preformed and of low quality, possibly reheated from the day before. The roast potatoes were not crispy and the peas were overcooked. Despite complaining, the manager did refund our meals. It's a shame, as the pub has a nice ambiance, but the food quality is unacceptable. After several disappointing visits, my family and I will not be returning unless we hear of significant improvements.
Our first visit to this small country pub. I came here because they had Liver and Bacon on the menu. Ordered sparkling water, with no ice. When my water arrived, the glass was full to the brim with ice! I asked for Liver and Bacon, but that was off the menu so I ordered Skate, that too was off the menu . Not a good start!! We all had the roast dinner. When it arrived, it was stone cold, chicken tough and inedible. Took it home for our dog! The vegetables cold, bland and thrown in one bowl. Slow service. No one came to clear our plates. We didn 't bother with dessert.
This pub was once a lovely friendly place to go with good food. The food is now served cold and tasteless with some of the items missing with no explanation or care. The drinks are now so expensive too. The staff are slow and without personality. The owner is sitting on a goldmine here get the food and staff sorted asap.
If you're looking for a consistently good meal with friendly and efficient service in a cozy atmosphere, this restaurant never disappoints. It's the ideal spot for a mid-week dinner date with their two for one fish special.
