Murillos Restaurants Merchant Street

One of the best Mexican food restaurants in all of California, in my opinion! I haven't been here in about 20 years since moving to the east coast. It is as good as I remembered it! The hot sauce is hand-made and is the best I have ever had!!

Always a good classic choice. The menu doesn't have a lot of variety but all the food is really good. The chips and hot salsa are the bomb. Probably the best in town. That's how I judge my Mexican restaurants is by the chips and salsa.

During our road trip from Oregon to San Francisco, my friend and I stayed at the nearby hotel, America's Best Value Inn. While we were there, we noticed Murillo's right next door. With no need to drive anywhere and just a short walk away, we decided to stop by for some cold beers, margaritas, chips and salsa, and dinner. It turned out to be just what we were looking for. The atmosphere was straightforward and fitting, with a traditional Mexican theme and a cantina area to relax in. Given the scorching heat that day, the cold beers and flavored margaritas were refreshing and satisfying. The food was quite basic, but it fulfilled our needs perfectly while we were on the road.
