Contribuisci feedbackOn the drive from Spain to the UK we like to have a night on the Massif Central: it breaks the journey nicely. We had stayed at the Hotel Beau Site in 2004 but it was not a positive experience and had been avoiding it since. This year the hotel with which we had booked could not honour our booking and transferred us to the Beau Site: fait accompli! We were tired, what else could we do but accept our fate?On arrival at the Beau Site, we were offered a choice of rooms and invited to inspect them. A good start. We booked dinner with resignation: it's not a place where you can walk to the next restaurant and the menu did look promising. We had a drink in the bar (warning: it has quite frightening purple leather seating) with which we were offered nibbles: foie gras with a peanut salsa (weird but good) and a pork and pistachio terrine (not quite so weird but also good). Our table overlooked the floodlit viaduct: quite a setting in which to eat but in 2004 the meal did not deliver. This time it did: big time! She Who Must Be Obeyed started with mushroom velouté with bacon foam (second warning: it comes with a rasher of bacon but was declared absolutely delicious) followed by the lamb (excellent), cheese and then roasted pear and honey (again delicious). I had the seared foie gras with fig (sumptuous even though the foie gras was a little overdone for my taste), steak (excellent especially the vegetables – they were really delightful), cheese and then chocolate with pistachio cream (quite strange but very good). The wine list is good with a useful selection of wines by the glass to accompany particular dishes. The bed was very comfy and breakfast ticked all the boxes we needed. So, the Beau Site moved us from resignation to delight in one night. We will drive though the Massif again and we will not pass it by. Neither should you.
Stayed at the hotel as an overnight stay on the way south. Not much choice in the area for dining so reserved a table in the restaurant. Glad we did. Both starters were excellent and my main of filet steak was done to perfection. My partner had the cod and she was full of praise for it. Staff very good and had plenty of patience with our limited French. Would definitely eat here again if we were in the area.
TV everywhere and food was amazing. Maybe they can improve on service little bit but over all everything is great.
We came in to watch Thurs football after halftimeThe restaurant was full and we had to wait for 15-20 minsNo probs.
**** food, okay service so if all you really want in a personable waitress this is your place but for food go anywhere else for less wait and way better food
