We visited the Avancher restaurant twice during our stay in Val d'Isere. The food, service and experience was arguably the best in the town. The menu selection is broad with multiple options for vegetarians. The food is cooked to perfection and all the ingredients are...fresh and literally everything is made on site. I would in particular recommend the Thick Black Angus Flank Steak honestly one of the best steaks i've eaten in a long time. We will definitely be heading back here when we return to Val d'Isere!
I had dinner at the Avancher restaurant with my husband and daughter and it certainly didn’t disappoint! We had to book as it was busy in the evenings but the food was fantastic with a very good wine list. I had the foie gras for...starter and the pigeon for main course which was beautifully presented and very tasty. Several others in the restaurant had the raclette which was the star of the show, with the waiters heating the cheese in the centre of the restaurant. The plancha main course also looked good fun, where you cooked your own steak on a large grill on your table. The profiterole dessert was excellent and the chocolate dessert looked very good. After our meal, we wandered into the bar which was buzzing and had a really good ambiance. A really lucky find in Val d’Isere which was only a stone’s throw from our chalet.
A really great, traditional Savoyarde meal with a great menu. Not cheap but not eye-wateringly expensive, so a nice treat. We had raclette with a bag of warm potatoes, and a charcuterie meat board, as well as their own racletiflette (similar to tartiflette and really...tasty), along with a couple of cocktails and glasses of wine. The staff were really friendly and helpful (as we found them everywhere in Val D’Isere. Definitely worth a visit.
We visited this restaurant based on great reviews and initially we were very impressed. The restaurant is clean, spacious and our waitress was polite, friendly and very charming. We ordered steak on the bone with truffle mashed potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium,...however only one of our steaks was edible without a chain saw. One was all bone, grizzle and as tough as old boots. My son asked for a steak knife to help me try and cut through it to eat it, initially to be told by the waiter that they don’t have steak knives. He eventually returned with a sharp knife from the kitchen, but alas it was of no help. The mashed potato was delicious, but at least 50% of the steak was left when I returned it to the kitchen. I explained to 2 staff members that I could not cut through or eat the steak, and not a single apology was offered. The sign of really good customer service is how you deal with complaints, and not a care was given. When the bill arrived [125 euros] I asked for a discount. The waiter disappeared for about 10 minutes before coming back to tell me [in front of a packed dining room] that the chef had examined my plate and I had eaten most of the steak, which was a lie. They reduced the bill by 10%, but it was a token gesture and I would have preferred a genuine apology.
