We were still wearing ski attire as we were on the way back to our hotel, so we popped in to make a reservation for another night. They came across as very arrogant and made us feel very belittled/discriminated based on our appearance. We won’t be going again.
My family spent 5 nights at this hotel. The young lady at check in was lovely and the concierge Luca was super helpful, but disappointingly, these are the only 2 positive interactions we had. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was a very disappointing experience due to the average food and cold service, despite the fine dining prices. We had terrible service from the waiter, sommelier and assistant manager, who were cold and dismissive and perhaps didn’t care much for a young family dining in their fine establishment. The restaurant was not busy as it was an early sitting. In contrast, we went to Lou Lou restaurant at Hotel Airelles a few nights later and had the best food and service from warm and helpful staff. This hotel should check it out and take notes on how to run a restaurant. The hotel itself is old and looks charming, but its maintenance needs work and they need to lift their game in housekeeping. The lift broke down one day and we could hear children trapped in it. We had to walk up 4 flights of stairs in our ski gear that afternoon. The boiler broke one morning and there was no hot water, which my young son discovered too late. There was no heads up from the hotel. The room smelt musty thanks to the old carpet and cupboards. There was an empty bottle of Clarins conditioner in our shower when we checked in, which indicated that housekeeping had not done a thorough job in cleaning/preparing the room prior to check in. The list goes on and suffice to say we were very disappointed with our stay. We traveled a long way to get to Val D’Sere and had high hopes of a pleasant time. I do not recommend this hotel at all, especially since there are many other great options around.
Successful experience at the restaurant once again with original dishes (flag pot with fire! and perfectly controlled. Perfect service, casual and attentive! A small word on the decoration a ringard twig today with multicolored dips of the 90s!! It has its charm but a little makeover would not hurt; This does not remove anything from my well-deserved note 5/5
We have been coming to Blizzard for 20 years in the winter, and for three years we have spent a week in the summer. It is for us the best mountain hotel, from far away. What is unbelievable is that over time there is no decline in service or quality or hospitality. It’s great warm luxury, never ostentatious, with a human magic, as I have rarely seen in a hotel. We are marvelled every time, and yet we know, we start sad to leave this haven of peace every time.
Certainly the most cozy, warm and classy place of the station
