We were a group of nine, including three small children, and they coped wonderfully with fast and cheerful service and some excellent food. It is never going to win a Michelin star, but it does what is does well a great place to take a break, pick up some good food and watch the world go by.
Obviously we had a different experience than some of the reviews posted here. We went for lunch. The gentleman serving us was very friendly and cheerful. The Caesar Salad was great as was the Tuna Sandwich. We saw burgers being delivered to the table next to ours and they looked soooo good….we’re going back tonight to try them!
This cafe is conveniently located adjacent to the town hall,in the Praca da Republica. The Square can be interestingly busy, particularly at weekends and fiestas. The cafe has a reasonable offering of drinks and snacks, reasonably priced. Service can be slow.
What must be the worlds rudest, condescending and belligerent waitress we have ever encountered. We only went for a coffee and didn't expect to be treated so rudely and ridiculed for not ordering food or misunderstanding Portuguese. Avoid at all costs!
Our waiter was from valenca. Lots of nice linens , towels and knock off clothing in this walled city. Lots of smoking and more Spanish speaking than anywhere else so far on the Camino . Beautifully preserved walled city.
