I had one of the best cedar-planklachs I ever had. it was perfectly prepared. the staff was very friendly and attentive. it was a busy night, but we never felt forgotten. Live music was a nice bonus. great place I will definitely visit again.
Our server (I am embarrassing, not remembering its names) was really attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. we had a wonderful meal and loved the brittle spits so much that we ordered them for dessert!
Cardero 's was recommended to us by a local guide, so when we found ourselves near the water, it seemed like a good bet. at the end was our total reaction that it was not bad, but in any case our expectations fell. we had no breakfast or lunch, so we went a little crazy and ordered over, but we thought we were just going home. we shared the prawn sizzle appetizer; it was just okay, and the part was smaller than we expected it was for the table and should therefore be meant. the har gow garnels were completely tasteless, the garnels were hard, and the teig was gummy; the 2 accompanying sauces were uninspired and not to our taste. the beet and burrata salad was so completely insignificant. my halibutt entrée was sown under salt, but until then I was quite full so that I simply took it home (it has not improved with the age, and I never ended eating it). hubs got the seaside platter instead of a derée (bbq ripen, grilled garnel, salmon clams, lemon caper beurre blanc), and he said it was all in order. I ordered the peanut butter dream cake, and because the menu description said nothing about cheesecake, I expected a sliced cake, so I was disappointed by my dessert. It was okay. hubs also got the famous dessert, torta milano (milk dark chocolate mascarpone mousse). again he said it was good. we have a cocktail, but they have not left a lasting impression. at our next visit to vancouver this is not a place we would look again. as I said. it was not bad; it was just not good enough for a second visit, nor for the price.
Eating the personal, the intentional and the live music at cardero were all awesome, highly recommend a visit there!
This is a very nice restaurant for seafood. Though if you go, you need to have the Sablefish, also known as Black Cod, and Butter fish. It is wonderful and is better than salmon, which I love as well.
