You can get spaghetti, rice, crispy noodles, and other kinds of noodles here. This restaurant is definitely worth trying if you like starches.
Two of these meals cost $15, INCLUDING TAX. You pay for what you get, but the food wasn’t disgusting, and everything was fairly clean, RECOMMEND FO SHO.
There is no better way to beat a wet and miserable day, than with hot and comforting soup. And what better a place for that, than a restaurant with “soup” in its title, amongst other descriptives. I was greeted at the door and given my choice of seats. A nice booth in the corner offered warmth and rest from the elements. As is the typical fashion of most Chinese cafe-restaurants, the setting is about practicality, and not much else. Red and black booths for large groups and free standing table tops for couples and small families. Lucky cats waving at the bar, red lanterns hanging over head, and the metal branches of a tree creeping across one wall. The other walls had black boards and posters advertising specials in Chinese characters and late night deals that didn’t list price or content. I would later find out that they definitely catered to their demographic, as the language barrier was a bit of an issue.
I like breakfast, even if I rarely get out of bed in time for what would normally be considered breakfast hours. I also have a special, almost nostalgic place in my heart for what can roughly be called a Hong Kong style breakfast. This can be easily found in Richmond, as well as in Vancouver at places like Angel Cake Cafe on Fraser Street, but I have yet to encounter a proper “Hong Kong style cafe” with breakfast in North Burnaby. Not far from the city’s edge, though, is Duotian Fish Soup Noodles Restaurant at Renfrew and First.
There aren't too many HK style cafes in this neighborhood and Duotian is miles better than Venice Garden across the way. Find the full review on my blog via the link in the comment below.
