My dining partner recommended a sushi spot located in the Alma neighborhood on West Broadway called Greenleaf Sushi. Despite driving by numerous times in the past, I had never considered giving it a try until now. When we arrived, the restaurant was bustling and we managed to snag the final table available.
I have a great appreciation for this restaurant, especially for their oshi pressed sushi! The establishment is on the smaller side and tends to have a wait, but it is definitely worth it. My husband and I typically opt for the oshi platter, which features six varieties of oshi sushi. The first bite is always incredibly satisfying. I highly recommend trying it out!
The tempura snapper was expertly fried with a crispy batter and tender, flaky fish. The OMG roll was a standout, with large slices covered in wasabi mayo and spicy mayo. The tempura salmon paired perfectly with the avocado crab mix, and the crispy outer shell added a nice crunch. The kani-ume oshi sushi, topped with deep fried capers, had a distinct blow torch flavor that added to the overall deliciousness of the dish. My recommendation would be the oshi sushi.
This is a cute little restaurant that is just one short bus ride from UBC. Whilst the restaurant is not very big, it feels very welcoming. The food is on the pricey side, I rated it a 4 rather than a 5. They serve both tea and lemon infused water.<br/ <br/ I think it's worth occasionally as the pressed Oshi sushi tastes amazing. I ordered the pork Chazu oshi and the salmon rolls. The salmon rolls are 6 tiny pieces of sushi, which are very small and taste very average. <br/ <br/ As I thoroughly enjoyed the Oshi, I would definitely recommend trying this place out! :
Green Leaf Sushi has been on my radar for awhile now, but recently, I started to deliver for Doordash and I was fortunate enough to have a couple of deliveries from them. As I waited for the order, I took in the smell and presentation of the food. I knew that I needed to try the food as soon as I could.
