However, we felt that the prices were a bit high for the portion sizes. With a price of $40 per person including one glass of wine, we didn't end up feeling stuffed. If you don't mind spending a little extra and enjoy fresh seafood, I would still recommend this restaurant. The servers were friendly and the atmosphere was quiet.
This restaurant is truly a hidden gem nestled within the South Cambie area. I often visit with a friend who is very loyal to their brand. The cod dish is amazing and my other friend always orders the tamago. It offers authentic Japanese cuisine at reasonable prices with genuine service. It is definitely one of my top choices for authentic Japanese food.
Hachibei is a cozy Japanese eatery tucked away in South Cambie. Seeking out new dining spots in town, I came across Hachibei which came highly praised by some friends. Being a fan of small, authentic Japanese restaurants, I was intrigued. Though the restaurant isn't spacious, I suggest making reservations for bigger parties. Feeling adventurous, my small group of 3 decided to take a chance.
Hachibei is a little hidden Japanese restaurant in South Cambie. I've been craving to try new places in town and I stumbled upon Hachibei. It was highly recommended by a few friends and I am a sucker for small authentic Japanese restaurants.<br/ <br/ Salmon Sashimi comes with 8 pieces and they use wild sockeye salmon. That colour is just beautiful and had a nice taste.<br/ <br/ Steamed clam with sake was their special for the day and ti comes with a delicious broth and 6 pieces of clams. Very delicious broth and nice big clams.<br/ <br/ Battera is pickled mackerel sushi pressed into a rectangular shape. It seemed like there was ginger on top of the pickled mackerel too.<br/ <br/ Chopped Scallop Roll had large chunks of scallops and tobiko inside. Very fresh and delicious.
My favourite Japanese food in town. Authentic and delicious! Go a little early if you don't want to wait for a table as the place is quite small.
