In the past, had a good experience. Went there at 7:30pm on Feb 3. 2024. The hostess at the entrance was extremely rude. She rudely yelled at us and others entering to go out and wait next to the railing. Didn’t tell us how long the wait will be. A few people ahead of us were so upset that they just left. I brought a couple of friends for the first time and felt embarrassed to bring them here as the welcome was so disrespectful. After we got seated, the serving staff was great! The food tastes very good, the quantity of food for each item is small though. The reason for the low overall rating is the ill-mannered and disrespectful hostess at the entrance who spoiled the starting experience for us and many others.
I always go here for Takoyaki and beer. I love the Tkoyaki in this place. The staff are very friendly and nice. The owner is always friendly and welcoming.I think it would be better if there were no glasses between seats at the bar.
Top drawer, first class Japanese experience. Flavorful and plenty. You will not go wrong by eating there. Superb service, as well. Sake list is impressive with much selection, too. Recommended. UPDATE: Gets better everytime. Such superb food. Easy to overeat but we didn't, thankfully! Great service. All round great time.
Eat here at your own risk. I ordered edamame, the seared tuna tataki, and the hamachi sashimi. On my walk back to my hotel, I started to feel very ill. Within 45 minutes of leaving the restaurant, I was in the emergency room at St. Pauls violently ill, with a full body, severe burning rash. The emergency doctor diagnosed me with scromboid fish poisoning, which is apparently quite rare. The doctor asked where I ate, to make sure he and his family never ate there again. I called Hapa to let them know so no other patrons got sick and received a large hospital bill, but I never received a courtesy call back.
