Helen’s Grill Restaurant is a restaurant that has been in operation for many years. Although the original owner has long since retired, it remains a family operation.<br/ <br/ The place has a 1950s retro decor and serves an unusual combination of American classics and Greek food. The ultimate fusion of this can be summed up in the lamb burger, which may well be one of the best hamburgers I have EVER had. The spices in the patty are about as close to perfection as you can get, and it comes with tzatziki sauce and feta cheese, and delightfully crispy fries; all in all a mindblowingly good meal! I also had creamed turkey soup, which was terrific.<br/ <br/ The only complaint is that this place is only open until 8 p.m.
For so many years I've been driving pass this corner. I didn't realize this corner diner had been in business for over 50 years. My girlfriend took me out for dessert here because she found out there were retro jukeboxes on their tables. Even I was curious if it's for show or did they work.<br/ <br/ We arrived in the neighbourhood with plenty of side parking. The waitress who served us looked rough around the edges, but was very polite and comforting. We ordered a chocolate milk shake to share and there was plenty of it. Two people can easily share this. They give you the metal container with extra in it. Next, we decided on the strawberry rhubarb pie. My girlfriend never had rhubarb and she love it. My only critique for the pie was that it looked small and flat, however, delicious.<br/ <br/ The ambiance gave a old school feel. We both fell in love with the retro juke boxes at the table sides. We couldn't stop putting quarters in so we can listen to old school songs. We had a great time.<br/ <br/ Would I come back? Yes, I'm curious about their brunch/breakfast menu.<br/
Located on the corner of Main and King Ed, “Helen’s Grill” is easy to spot, and the only one of its kind in the area. On their building sign they advertised their all day breakfast, char-broiled steak; and Greek classics like souvlaki, pita, and pasta. Other than that, the exterior wasn’t much to look at, with its dingy rocks and graffiti sprayed stains.
Classic. I have been here twice for supper in the last year. The first time I had the steak special and my 10 yr old son had a burger, he said it is in the top 5 best burgers he has ever had... steak was fine. Second time was a couple months ago with wifey and son. He still says the burger is great. I can't remember what I had, or the wife, but it was all okay to good. Better than fast food, maybe a little more expensive- I'll go back again.
